Christmas party

Dear friends,

2014 is now coming to an end. For us it was filled with a lot of emotions – successes, challenges and new hope!

We devoted the last group meeting of the year to the upcoming holidays and organized a Christmas party for youngsters and volunteers from our Mentoring Program. There were lots of dancing, games and prizes, and the most wonderful is that new friendships were created!

Our team thanks to all our volunteers, partners and donors who supported our cause this year.

Trainings for volunteers

This weekend the trainings for volunteers of  “Step for Bulgaria” Foundation start within the project “Establishing Volunteers Network in support of Underprivileged Youth”, funded by the NGO Progremme in Bulgaria under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009-2014 (www.ngogrants.bg).

The trainings are the first activity planned in the project aiming at building the volunteers’ capacity. Two types of trainings will be realized: initial and on-going. Six two-day trainings with 20 participants and one two-day out-of-office training with 45 participants will be held over the next 12 months. Topics for each specific training will be selected by the team of the foundation (for the initial module) and the requests of the volunteers, based on an analysis of their work with the youths and identified problem areas (for the on-going trainings).

Since September 2013 till present the Foundation managed to develop a network of 54 volunteer with different intensity of activity and forms of engagement in the activities of the Foundation, and requests from new candidates have been constantly received. All new candidate-volunteers will pass an initial training. Such training will be organized for the volunteers that joined the Foundation over the past two months (about 20 volunteers). On-going trainings are planned for the active volunteers who provide individual support to young people, who have grown up without parental care, within our Mentoring Program. The out-of-office training will also be a sort of a teambuilding, which will contribute to enhancing the feeling of belonging of the volunteers to the Foundation, our mission and values and strengthen the sustainability of their motivation for long-term commitment to our projects and programs.

Our project “Movie Perspective” continues

Hello friends!

After a short break in August, our project “Movie Perspective” continues.

This Saturday in Gabrovo was the premiere of the film “The Experiment” that the young people, participating in the project, created. The work of the youngsters was inspired by the young director Ivan Moskov, volunteer in “Step for Bulgaria” Foundation, who in a number of cinema-meetings catched the cinema fire at young people and helped them to create their first scenario. Warm thanks to the mayor of Gabrovo – Tanya Hristova for providing a place for the screening.

The project “Movie Perspective” is entirely based on the film art as a mean to influence positively the development of children and young people who have grown up without parental care.

New volunteers

„Step for Bulgaria“ Foundation welcomes new volunteers in our network who have successfully passed initial training. This month we have 10 more followers who will take the responsibility to be mentors to underprivileged youths.

Thank you for being with and supporting us!

Supported by their mentors, young people prepared cover letters in which they justified their desire to learn, improve their skills and discover new worlds and friends.

Movie Perspective

Hello friends,

Our latest project “Movie Perspective” started this Saturday in Gallery “Orlovska”, Gabrovo. More than 20 children from different forms of care in Gabrovo took part in the first of series of screenings of inspiring movies.

This project is an idea of our volunteer Ivan Moskov, a film director. His desire is to show young people their potential throughout the energy of the movie in a series of screenings, which will be followed by writing their own scenario and shooting it by the young people themselves.
We started with the beautiful and conceptual film “The Fall”, which was established on the script of Valery Petrov for the Bulgarian film “Yo Ho Ho”. Young people accepted the movie with interest, and learned something very practical: the dervishes dancers in the film are not ballerinas.

Youth-volunteers meeting

We want to thank to the wonderful young people and our dedicated volunteers for the active participation and sincerity in sharing!
